Leisure Industry Week 2016 (LIW), the UK’s largest leisure industry trade show, and Sporta, the membership association representing cultural and leisure trusts and social enterprises throughout the UK, have announced a strategic partnership to support leisure industry operators.
Together LIW and Sporta are working to deliver a health educational programme that provides genuine benefits to all leisure industry operators. By combining Sporta’s industry experience and member feedback with the key meeting place for leisure industry professionals that is LIW, the education programme put on by both parties will feature seminars from experts in their field, designed to help operators increase engagement with new customers and retain them in their organisations.
Sporta will hold their own health improvement conference day within the Health Education Stream to help their members further engage with and deliver to the public health agenda, helping to combat the financial and competitive pressures. Featuring seminars and workshops directly relevant to their member’s needs on topics such as evidence based practice, perspectives of a commissioner and case studies from the sector. .
“This partnership with Sporta highlights the importance of LIW to the leisure industry,” commented UK Director of LIW, Steve Orton. “With such key associations like Sporta supporting the expo and viewing it as an ideal platform to communicate with and support their members, this reinforces how important LIW is as a place for leisure industry professionals to learn, develop and future proof their businesses”.
LIW 2016, held on 20th – 21st September 2016 at the NEC Birmingham, will feature six tailored educational streams: Health, Play, Fitness, Spa & Wet Leisure, Facilities Management and Sport. Each educational stream will feature its own specific content and topics to support operators within those sectors and offer practical advice on how to tackle the key issues operators face every day.
